Złote Raspberries 2023 – co-creator of the awards responds to criticism for the nomination of a 12-year-old actress

The nominations for the 2023 Golden Raspberry Awards, the annual awards for the worst films, actors and actresses, have been announced. One nomination in particular aroused considerable controversy. It’s about the category for the worst actress, in which the 12-year-old was included Ryan Kiera Armstrong for his performance in the film arsonist.
This did not please the fans, who called the nomination simply mean and very mean. The co-founder of the awards, John Wilson, decided to respond to the criticism.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Wilson said to keep distance from these awards, because they are Golden Raspberry. As for the nomination itself, he stated that it was not about meanness on the part of the award committee and the fury of the fans is a bit exaggerated. He revealed that there was a long discussion about whether to include the actress in the nominations, but in the end it was decided that it would happen because Armstrong is already an experienced actress despite her young age. However, with all this, Wilson also admitted that they had made a mistake in this particular case.
