X-Men ’97 – new plot details of the continuation of the cult cartoon

X-Men ’97 is an animated series that is a continuation of the cult production about mutants from the 90s. The production action from the previous information is to start right after the end of the original. As a reminder, in the finale, Empress Lilandra of the Shi’ar Empire took the mortally wounded Charles Xavier into space to heal him.
So what events will we follow in the sequel? The @XMenUpdate Twitter account shared a synopsis for the series that was supposed to be revealed during the recent X-Men: 60 Uncanny Years Live Virtual Event. We read in it that Storm and Wolverine are trying to continue the activities of the X-Men. Magneto appears as Charles Xavier’s successor. Sinister arrives to attempt to defeat the X-Men once and for all.
The description therefore confirms what was said at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, where it was reported that Magneto would stop his sinister activities and work together with the X-Men.

Eric and Julia Lewald, producers of the original series, serve as consultants on the project. The showrunner of the production is Beau DeMayo. The animation method is to be similar to the original, but slightly modernized. Marvel Studios previously announced that it would premiere on Disney+ in Fall 2023.
