With one voice is a film based on a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative report published in The New York Times. The protagonists of the production are Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, who in their text touched on the subject of sexual abuse committed by the film producer, Harvey Weinstein. This sparked the #MeToo movement.
This raises the question of whether Harvey Weinstein himself appears in the film? Not personally, of course, but he could be portrayed by one of the actors. By decision of director Maria Schrader and screenwriter Rebeka Lenkiewicz, viewers will not see his face. It is a conscious and deliberate decision not to give the perpetrator a voice. We see him from behind in the frame, and we also hear his recordings, but these elements are never connected. The creators wanted viewers to be able to hear and see a woman in action, not a torturer, as is often the case with other films showing a journalistic investigation.
One voice – the cast
The director of the picture is Maria Schrader (Unorthodox), and the screenwriter – Rebecca Lenkiewicz. Carey Mulligan and Zoe Kazan portray Twohey and Kantor, respectively. The cast also includes Tom Pelphrey, Patricia Clarkson, Andre Braugher and Samantha Morton. Plan B Entertainment, owned by Brad Pitt, is responsible for the production.
With one voice – The premiere of the film in Polish cinemas on November 25.
