Vaiana – Auliʻi Cravalho will not appear in the live-action film. The actress commented on the project

For Auli Cravalho the role of the title character of the animated film Moana: Treasure of the ocean was the beginning of his career. She was 14 at the time and, as she recalls in a new interview, it changed her life. A live-action version was recently announced Moanswherein Dwayne Johnson will return to his role. Many assumed that Cravalho would too, but the actress has officially announced that this will not be the case.
“When I became Moana at 14, it miraculously changed my life and launched my career. In the live version, I will not play this role. However, I believe it is crucial that the cast of the film faithfully represent the characters and stories we want to tell.
However, Cravalho revealed that she would still be attached to the project as an executive producer. She is to actively help in the casting of a young actress for the role of Moana (Vaiana in Europe). She herself is very pleased with this project as it will allow for a greater representation of people from her culture and Pacific Island community on screen.
