There are already nearly 3 million Samsung Smart TVs in Poland

Today, more than 85 percent of new Samsung Smart TVs are connected to the network. This is the effect of an increasingly rich and diverse range of film applications and a rapidly growing gaming category. At the end of 2022, there were nearly 2.6 million active Samsung Smart TVs in Poland, which dominated the manufacturer’s offer seven years ago and became the market standard. Taking into account the dynamics of the market and the increasing capabilities of the TV sets themselves, Samsung estimates that this year the number of active Smart TVs with the TIZEN system and its predecessor will exceed 3 million in Poland. Already in 2022, 4 out of 5 Samsung Smart TVs purchased were connected to the network and actively used.

The last 2-3 years have changed the way we use electronic devices and their role in our homes. We can see that we are more willing to use solutions, functions and technologies of modern equipment that fit into our lifestyle and are easy to use. In practice, it also means that we do everything intuitively, we have everything at hand. Samsung Smart TVs perfectly match these needs and today buying such a TV broadens our access to entertainment, information and a catalog of movies and series that interest us. Smart TV also makes it easier to control and use what the smart home offers. Smart TV means huge possibilities of choosing what interests us and adapting the TV set to our needs.
– comments Grzegorz Stanisz, director of sales and marketing of the RTV department at Samsung Electronics Polska.
What is Smart TV?
In simple terms, Smart TV is a TV set connected to the Internet and able to work with many home appliances, such as audio devices, household appliances or various types of sensors, but also with a mobile phone. The heart of Samsung Smart TV is the TIZEN system, which the company has been developing since 2015. It is characterized by ease of use and navigation, as well as various personalization options, which is appreciated by viewers around the world. Today, more than 200 million users in 197 countries use Samsung smart TVs.
The popularity of Samsung Smart TV is greatly influenced by the stability of the system and the high quality of applications that are optimized and certified. The year 2022 has brought Samsung Smart TV users many new applications from various categories that expand access to a variety of entertainment. Among them, broadly understood gaming and the possibility of playing in the cloud are increasingly distinguished. Samsung Smart TVs already have the Xbox app, which has opened up a new category of home entertainment – today you don’t need a console to play, all you need is an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription and a compatible controller. Another novelty was the popular Twitch application, which is used for live broadcasting of games or e-sports events. Watching other streamers is an entertainment that brings together a growing community of fans around the world. There were also entertainment apps, such as TikTok, Disney+ or HBO Max, and recently SkyShowtime joined them.
However, Smart TV is not only entertainment. Samsung defines Smart TV much more broadly, because the concept encompasses a number of solutions and capabilities that affect the user experience as a whole. Among them, e.g. the ability to include the TV in the smart home ecosystem, which happens via the SmartThings application. Thanks to it, the largest home screen will successfully become a management center for other devices, such as air conditioning or air purifier. Smart TV also means extensive possibilities in terms of connecting with external devices and sharing the screen of a smartphone or computer. And this brings a number of additional possibilities, including in hybrid work, which has become a permanent part of the business reality of many users.
The popularity of the TIZEN system is additionally confirmed by the fact that in 2022 Samsung decided to make the software available to manufacturers of other TV sets. First, it is to hit the screens of Atmac, HKC and Tempo in selected countries. As a result, an even larger group of viewers will benefit from the advantages of the system.
According to a survey conducted by the Omdia research institute, in 2022 Samsung became the world number one in the TV market for the 17th time in a row. In 2022, Samsung sold 9.65 million QLED and Neo QLED TVs. The company also dominated the larger TV segment in 2022 with a market share of 36.1% for devices over 75 inches and 42.9% for TVs over 80 inches. For premium TVs above $2,500, Samsung is the leader (in terms of revenue) with a market share of 48.6%.
