The Mandalorian – what about Cara Dune? Creators about the character of a fired actress

Deadline had the opportunity to talk to Dave Filoniexecutive producer of the series The Mandalorians and director Rick Famuyiwa. Lucasfilm decided to fire her, announcing in a press release that it is unacceptable for them to disparage people because of their religious and cultural identities.
The Mandalorian – what about Cara Dune?
Rick Famuyiwa, the director of three episodes of season 3, confirms that the writer and creator of the series Jon Favreau addresses why we will not see Cary Dune on screen anymore. It was something they were discussing and they knew it would have some impact. This character still exists, has not been killed off, and lives on in the Star Wars universe. He explains that the story of Din, Grog and the Mandalorians is at the center of it, so they didn’t spend much time on it.
Dave Filoni adds that the third season mainly focuses on the Mandalorians and their situation in the galaxy, so the storyline of Cary Dune is not needed here at all, because Din and Grogu are in places related to the Mandalorians, more precisely on their planet Mandalore. Filoni adds that Cara Dune is a great character, but there are many heroes vying for screen time.
The Mandalorians – Season 3 premieres March 1 on Disney+.
