The Mandalorian – how long did Luke Skywalker train Grogu? Jon Favreau tries to explain
Some time ago we had an explanation from the creator of the show, Jon Favreauthat the story of the first two seasons The Mandalorians took place over many years. However, between the season 2 finale and Luke Skywalker’s Grog training, which we saw in Boba Fett’s book two years have passed. Baby Yoda spent so much time with the Jedi Master.
Now, however, Favreau has provided a statement that seems to contradict this. The Mandalorians The premiere season takes place five years after the events of Return of the Jedi therefore in the year 9 ABY (After the Battle of Yavin). In an interview with TV Line, however, the creator said that we are approaching 10 ABY, which would mean that a year has passed from the end of season 1 to the beginning of season 3.
It seems that Favreau’s previous statement was misunderstood, and it may have been a two-year hiatus between shows, not necessarily that Grogu had been training with Luke during that time. Later, the creator explained that the training time could last less or more than a year (from zero to two years). Perhaps, however, we will soon see more specific statements that will also place the next announced projects – the series – on the timeline Star Wars: Ahsoka and Star Wars: Skeleton Crewthat are to be linked.
