Sebastian in the movie Little Mermaid it won’t look like the animation from the old days. The creators of the remake approached the subject in the same way as it was done with the “actor” Lion King, i.e. animals are presented realistically. That’s what happened with Sebastian little mermaid, which was met with criticism on social media.

It turns out that the whole situation is plunged by one more detail about Sebastian. When choosing the species of a realistic crab, an ocypode, also known as a ghost crab, was chosen. The problem is that he mostly lives on land, and as we know, according to the plot, Sebastian accompanies Ariel underwater. Ocypode would simply drown in such a situation.

Of course, there is an argument in the discussions that this is still a fantasy about talking mermaids, so this fact of Sebastian’s species should not matter. Critics, however, hit the ball pretty simply: if Disney wanted to keep the whole fantasy tinge, it shouldn’t have turned Sebastian into a realistic crab. And once that decision has been made, they should choose a species that wouldn’t drown underwater.

The Little Mermaid – what is the movie about?

The film tells the story of the titular mermaid Ariel, who wants to get to the surface in the human world to meet Prince Eric, whom the heroine rescued after a shipwreck. To this end, Ariel makes a deal with the sea witch Ursula. In exchange for his voice and tail, he gets human legs. However, it soon turns out that this deal has very unpleasant consequences.

The cast of the production includes Halle Bailey, Jonah Hauer-King, Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay, Awkwafina, Javier Bardem, Melissa McCarthy. The picture was directed by Rob Marshall. The screenplay is by Jane Goldman and David Magee.
