Star Trek: Discovery – end of the series! Season 5 will be the last

American streaming platform Paramount+ has officially announced its end Star Trek: Discovery. The series will end in 2024 with the upcoming 5th season. We read that the owners of the service want to celebrate what they call a groundbreaking series with big events in key markets around the world. The countries in which the celebration is to be held have not yet been announced.
Star Trek: Discovery – the history of the series
The project premiered in 2017 and was the first original series on CBS All Access, which later became Paramount+. In press releases, they praise the groundbreaking approach to the story, the diversity of the cast, which they see as a perfect example of inclusivity, and at the same time praise how the series honors the legacy of Gene Roddenberry.
Star Trek: Discovery – what is season 5 about?
The final series will see the dependable Captain Burnham and the crew of the USS Discovery unravel a mystery that will send them on an epic adventure through the galaxy. Their goal will be to discover and conquer an ancient power whose existence has been hidden for centuries. Others hunt for this treasure too; new enemies who will do anything to get it.
Work on the set of the 5th season has already ended, but according to Deadline, after the decision to end the series, there are still plans for reruns.
“We couldn’t be more proud of what Discovery has added to the Star Trek legacy, especially in terms of on-screen representation. If even one person sees themselves on screen or sees their future opportunities in a new way because of Discovery, we think Gene Roddenberry would be very proud of it,” showrunners Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise wrote.
Season 5 cast includes Sonequa Martin-Green (Burnham) Doug Jones (Saru), Anthony Rapp (Paul Stamets), Mary Wiseman (Sylvia Tilly), Wilson Cruz (Dr. Hugh Culber), David Ajala (Cleveland “Book” Booker ), Blu del Barrio (Adira) and Callum Keith Rennie (Rayner).
It has been confirmed that pre-announced series are in the pipeline. These are titles such as Star Trek: Star Fleet Academy and Star Trek: Section 31 starring Michelle Yeoh. They remain in production Star Trek: Strange New WorldsStar Trek: Lower Decks and Star Trek: Prodigy.
Star Trek: Discovery is not yet available in Poland and it is not known when this will change.
