Shazam! 2 – post-credits scenes – there are descriptions. Is there a connection to the DCU?
Shazam! 2 – What are the critics praising on Rotten Tomatoes?
55% of critics found the film “fresh” and gave it a positive review. This group includes John Kirk of Original Cin who wrote that Shazam! The wrath of the gods may be DC’s most endearing superhero film, adding:
It’s a throwback to the days when you read a pile of comics on your bed for an afternoon that then seemed like it would never end.
Alistair Harkness of Scotsman, in turn, wrote that the film is true to the goofy spirit of the original, rather than conforming to the serious style that adult fans impose on social media. On the other hand, Abigail Chandler from SciFiNow gave the verdict that it’s a fun family superhero movie that provides action and humor, but lacks the thrill of the first one. Matt Fernandez of Geeks of Color concluded:
Shazam! The wrath of the gods offers fans more or less the same thing as the first: a family-friendly and action-packed adventure with humor and heart. And that’s not a bad thing.
Shazam! 2 – what do reviewers on Rotten Tomatoes criticize?
William Bibbiani of TheWrap wrote that the best parts of the film are lost in a sea of ”nonsensical CGI monsters” and “tedious action sequences”. In turn, Matt Singer from ScreenCrush believes that the production is largely based on the remnants of the good energy from the first one and the talented cast. Katie Walsh of the Tribune News Service, on the other hand, went so far as to say that she hopes this is the last part of Shazam’s adventures. Critics who reviewed the film negatively seem to agree that the new DC movie is an average comedy at best, but without any substance, full of repetitive action scenes and weak jokes.
As Carla Hay of Culture Mix summarized:
Shazam! 2 – Critics’ reviews are divided
As you can see, the critics are quite divided. However, most reviewers seem to agree that it’s funny enough to pass the time at the cinema, but worse than the first. As for our price, Dawid Muszyński offered Shazam! The wrath of the gods 6 out of 10 and concluded:
Shazam! The wrath of the gods is a typical superhero blockbuster focused on entertainment. There are no greater aspirations. It doesn’t pretend to have any deeper meaning. It just shows a spectacular fight like from a comic book. No one is laying the groundwork here to introduce some new heroes. It’s a production that has a beginning and an end. It may not be outstanding, but it does the job. Which does not change the fact that it is rather a proposition for one screening – you will not come back to it later.
