Sam Neil was diagnosed with blood cancer. “I’m not afraid of death, but it would piss me off”

Sam Neill currently undergoing treatment for stage 3 blood cancer. He first noticed last March that he had swollen glands while promoting a film Jurassic World: Dominion. After consulting a doctor, the actor was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a rare form of blood cancer. He began treatment with chemotherapy, which did not work.
Now 75, the actor said he started taking a new drug and is now cancer-free after a long journey. However, he will need to receive this medication every month for the rest of his life. In an interview with The Guardian, he said he was glad to be alive and grateful for every day and all the friends around him.
The actor is preparing to release a diary titled Did I Ever Tell You This?, a book that was created when he was looking for a respite between chemotherapy treatments, when he did not yet know that he would be able to overcome the disease. In turn, in an interview with the BBC, he said that he is not afraid of death. The only thing he doesn’t want to do is stop living because he really likes to live. “I’m not afraid of dying, but that would piss me off.” – he adds that he doesn’t care about death, but he wants to watch his grandchildren grow and his beautiful garden develop for at least a decade.
