Russia and Belarus did not receive the rights to broadcast the Olympic Games

European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Warner Bros. Discovery won a tender from the International Olympic Committee to acquire the media rights to broadcast the 2026 and 2030 Winter Olympics and the 2028 and 2032 Summer and Youth Games. Until then, these events will not be televised in Russia and Belarus.
Russia and Belarus did not receive the rights to broadcast the Olympic Games, because the International Olympic Committee (IOC) excluded these countries from the list already at the stage of the tender for the television rights to these events. Both countries were excluded from this procedure after Russia attacked Ukraine. In addition, the IOC banned Russian TV channels from broadcasting the Olympic Games in 2026 and 2028.
Recall that in 2024 the Summer Olympic Games will be held in Paris, in 2028 in Los Angeles, and in 2032 in Brisbane, Australia. Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo will host the 2026 Winter Olympics. It has not yet been decided which city will host the 2030 Winter Olympics.
