Oppenheimer – part of the film is in color, part in black and white. The reason is surprising

Total Film magazine has published new photos from the film Oppenheimer directed by Christopher Nolan and new comments revealing behind-the-scenes tidbits and the creator’s motivations behind certain film solutions.
Oppenheimer – color versus black and white image
We saw in the trailers that once the movie will be normally in color, once the picture will be black and white. This is not an ordinary solution that has no motivation. Christopher Nolan revealed his rather surprising reasons that immediately tell us that Oppenheimer will not be an ordinary biographical film. Recall that Nolan also wrote the script himself.
– I wrote the script in the first person, which I have never done before. I don’t know if anyone has done this before, or if it’s something people do at all. The film tells the story objectively and subjectively. Color scenes are subjective, while black and white scenes are objective. I wrote the scenes in first person color, which can be quite intimidating for an actor.
Cillian Murphy himself warns in an interview with the magazine not to expect a standard biographical film. He announces that Oppenheimer it has epic quality and thriller elements. He is joined by Emily Blunt, who plays his film wife, calling the film a thriller and a great event.
Oppenheimer – premiere on July 21, 2023 in cinemas.
