Netflix founder Reed Hastings, despite good results for the first fiscal quarter of 2023 (7.6 million new subscribers), resigned as president of the streaming giant. He will be replaced by the current chief operating officer, Greg Peters, who will share the position with Ted Sarandos. Netflix confirmed on Thursday, January 19 that it will be cracking down on account sharing “more extensively” in the coming months.
The change would limit the Netflix account to users in one household, rather than sharing it with multiple external users. Account holders who wish to share with users away from home can pay an additional fee to maintain these profiles (although the exact price has yet to be revealed). All members of one household will still be able to use their account while traveling and watch programs on both TVs and mobile devices.

Netflix has announced that it expects to start expanding at the end of the first quarter, with the rollout spread across different countries over the next few quarters. These changes have already been implemented in countries such as Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Argentina, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras.
