James Gunn defends his wife’s performances in the DC movie. Fans outraged.

The CEO of DC Studios responded to criticism from a Twitter follower urging him to “stop putting his wife in every DC project”. Gunn reacted:

“The only DC movie I cast my wife in was Suicide Squad: The Suicide Squad. I had nothing to do with the cast of any other film {…}. But I know some of you need reasons to hate.”

Many fans expressed anger at abandoning characters such as Henry Cavill’s Superman and developing Gunn’s character, and accused the director of bias. It is worth noting, however, that Gunn was hired to develop his vision of the DCU and the characters that fit it.

Gunn and Holland started dating in 2015, and their relationship was initiated by a mutual friend, Michael Rosenbaum. In September 2022. their wedding took place, attended by many Marvel and DC stars.
