James Bond censored. Reissue of books with changes

Book publisher Ian Fleming The James Bond Company plans to re-release these novels in the UK in 2023. As reported by the British portal The Telegraph, James Bond will be censored. These novels will be released in April 2023 in a revised form to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the first publication.

We read in the portal’s report that each book has been completely rewritten to suit the sensibilities of the 21st century audience. They say racist references have been removed from the books.
In addition, the reissue of the novel will have a note: this book was written at a time when vocabulary and attitudes now considered offensive to the modern reader were then the order of the day. Changes have been made in this edition that are as close to the original and the times in which the action is set as possible.
This is not the first time that books have been censored for offensive vocabulary. In February 2023, we reported that a similar situation concerned the reissue of Roald Dahl’s books. This drastic interference with the text was met with huge negative reactions on the web. Most likely in April 2023 we will learn more about the changes.
