Guardians of the Galaxy: It’s getting closer to Christmas will take the action between the events of the second and third movies about the MCU team of space heroes. The heroes travel to Earth to find an unforgettable Christmas present for Peter Quill. They decide… to kidnap Kevin Bacon and give him for Christmas.
James Gunn in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he admitted, among other things, that it took him only a few hours to write the script for the special episode. In this case, everything was easy for him, and the situation was slightly different with the third Guardians of the Galaxy.
Everything related to shooting [filmu specjalnego] it was easy. Everything including working with the actors, while the third part was torture in every way.
The director adds that Getting closer to the holidays was a crazy rollercoaster ride and a lot of fun, while working on the film was extremely emotional. Let us remind you that this will be a summary of the trilogy and probably a farewell not only to this lineup (albeit in part), but also to James Gunn, who is already working on creating the DC universe.
In an interview, the creator also mentions that the desire to make this special came from his passion for the Christmas atmosphere. It is his favorite time of the year and he also remembers the Star Wars Holiday Special well, but also many other animations with Rudolf the Red Nose or the Grinch animation, which he considers to be one of the greatest cartoons in history. Making a Guardians special with a Christmas vibe was a fun idea, but also something the director had wanted to do for a long time. The director also revealed that he is happy to introduce a few elements in the special film, because then he will not have to waste valuable time on the third part. It’s about the dog Cosmo and showing that the Rangers have a mansion on Knowhere.
And once I sat down and started trying to figure out what the story was, the Kevin Bacon idea came very, very quickly and I wrote the whole story in a couple of hours.
