Gladiator 2 – Denzel Washington joins the sequel. The cast is getting more interesting!

As reported by Deadline, Denzel Washington agreed to star in the Gladiator 2 show to direct Ridley Scott. Thus, he will join the main character Paul Mescal and probably Barry Keoghan.

We read that when Mescal signed the contract, Paramount bosses Brian Robbins, Daria Cercek and Michael Ireland wanted a big star in the cast, and so they ended up in Washington. When they offered him the role, no one knew if he would be interested, because Washington is known for being very meticulous about his films and not acting in just anything. According to the portal’s sources, after reading David Scarpa’s script, the actor was very excited about the role that Ridley Scott had written with him in mind. Washington then met with Scott, who shared details of his vision, and the actor agreed to play.

At the moment, it is not known what this role is. Journalist Jeff Sneider unofficially says that according to his sources, this would be Lucius’s mentor, who would train him for gladiator fights.

Gladiator 2 – what do we know?

The story takes place many years after the events of the first game and its protagonist is Lucius, the nephew of Commodus, who was a child in the first part.

Returning to the crew are John Mathieson (cinematography), Janty Yates (costume) and Arthur Max (set design). Ridley Scott will direct. The photos are to start soon. The pre-production stage is in full swing.
