History of the Jordan
The history of Jordan is one that has been shaped by its unique geography, which is situated at the crossroads between Africa, Asia, and Europe. In 63 BC Pompey annexed Coele Syria for Rome after which it became a province called Syria Palaestina or Palestine for short. During this time Christianity began to spread throughout Palestine from Jerusalem further south into Transjordan – what we know today as Jordan – thanks largely to St Paul’s
