Gambit is a well-known character from Marvel comics, and at the same time the title of the canceled X-Men film in which he was supposed to play the main role Channing Tatumstar Magic Mike. The actor, who is a loyal fan of the mutant, revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair that he is still in contact with the studio about a potential revival of the project – while accepting that the chances of that are slim and that Gambit will probably never see the light of day.

Below is the actor’s statement. He speaks in the plural because he also refers to Reid Carolin, his film partner with whom they were supposed to work on Gambit.
It was absorbed by Disney and thus by Marvel when they bought Fox. I think ultimately the tone of the film we wanted was very far from their vision – there’s also the option that they’re waiting to see how it would be made with us and without us. We call once in a while about this, but we have to be spiritually, emotionally and mentally ready to say goodbye to the project.

Reportedly, Gambit, which was in development around 2010, was supposed to show a New Orleans filled with mutants, where people only cared about partying and sex. The character himself can charge objects with kinetic energy, which in turn explode on impact. He is also fast, agile, and skilled in hand-to-hand combat.
