Fast X – fans furious about this death. The director explains

In the film fast X in addition to the return of two characters (including one who died in the person of Giselle played by Gal Gadot), there was the death of one of the characters. It’s about Jakob played by John Cenawho undergoes a transformation from the villain we saw in fast and furious 9 into a hero giving his life for Dom and his son. This decision was met with quite stormy reactions from fans and criticism, because it was too sudden, so it also did not allow viewers to develop an emotional connection with the character.
Fast and furious 10 – why did Jakob die?
Louis Leterrier (director) in an interview with Entertainment Weekly revealed that Jakob’s death was his own idea. He explains that he ran into it during the initial stages of work. He admits that when he revealed to John Cena that his character had to sacrifice himself to save his son Dom, the actor was upset by this fact. Only after a longer conversation about how it is supposed to look and work, he was convinced and finally evaluates the idea very well. This awareness from the beginning of work on the set changed Cena’s approach to creating this creation, because he understood where it was going.
“I thought to myself: this guy is tough, but he can’t be a villain. There’s nothing wrong with it. So my interpretation of this character is different from Fast and Furious 9. He is my interpretation of Uncle Jakob. He learned to be an uncle and to care for someone even though he felt like he had never been loved. He feels this love when little B hugs him and tells him “I love you Uncle Jakob”.
