Batman Beyond – will there be an animated film? New informations

Batman – 20 years later is a continuation of the animated series Batman, which aired on American television from 1992 to 1995. It was about an older Bruce Wayne who trained a teenage Terry McGinnis to be his successor in futuristic Gotham City. Recall that in December 2022, Warner Bros. resigned from the production of the live-action film Batman of the future. It was to be a film adaptation of the animated series written by Christina Hodson. According to reports, he was supposed to play the role of Bruce Wayne Michael Keaton and there was supposed to be a romance plot between Batman and Catwoman.

For several years, it has been said that the studio intends to create a cinematic animation about the Batman of the Future, which was not to be related to the movie with Keaton. Daniel Casey (fast and furious 9) wrote several drafts of the script for the animation, which was intended as a response to Warner Bros. on hit Spider-Man Universe from Marvel Studios.

Jeff Sneider (a person from the industry) in an interview with The Hot Mic Podcast referred to this animated film, which was to be created under the leadership of Walter Hamada (president of DC Films in 2018-2022). He said right now Batman Beyond remains in development under the leadership of DC Studios co-presidents James Gunn and Peter Safran. No one from the project team was informed otherwise. However, Sneider clarified that development on the animation may be halted or canceled if it does not fit with the developers’ DCU vision.
