Avengers: Infinity War – As many as 5 shots of the Hulk battle were filmed. Why is only Banner shown?
This year marks the 5th anniversary of the movie’s release Avengers: Infinity War, by many fans of the MCU considered one of the best, if not the best installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This assessment is influenced by the final clash with Thanos’s army and the consequent snap of the Mad Titan in the Infinity Gauntlet, which led to Decimation. We’ve known for a long time that Hulk in the Green Goliath version was supposed to appear in this battle, which was even revealed in one of the trailers. But why was only Bruce Banner in the Hulkbuster armor finally shown on the screen?
He spoke on the matter Mark Ruffalowho revealed that as many as 5 scenes with the participation of the Hulk in the aforementioned battle were shot:
We were working on the set Wars Without Borders and the Hulk was supposed to jump out of the Hulkbuster in the finale – we shot it, like, like 4 times, but it still didn’t work. We realized – well, the Russo brothers realized that we can’t make the Hulk the saver again; we had to show Banner – losing Banner.
The actor added:
Such a scene (Hulk jumping out of the Hulkbuster – author’s note) was in the script in an unchanged form for about 2 years. When it came to shooting it, we decided it was better not to show the Hulk. Instead, Banner appeared, who together with his friends tried to turn into the Hulk. We shot this scene… Yes, it will be 5 times in a year.
