Avatar: The Essence of Water is the most expensive movie ever!? We know the budget; Guillermo del Toro shares a mini-review
Movie premiere Avatar: Water Creature is fast approaching. As the Hollywood Reporter now reports, the production James Cameron may be the most expensive cinematic story ever – its budget is expected to be between $350 million and $400 million. This is much more than previously speculated; Recall that, according to previous reports, the budget Avatar 2 amounted to USD 250 million. So far, the picture is considered the most expensive film in history Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides from 2011, which cost USD 379 million. For comparison: an uprising Avatar in 2009 cost USD 237 million.
The director himself revealed that the idea for Pandora has been developing in his head for 50 years. As a 19-year-old, he had a dream in which the characteristics of the world appeared Avatar elements – young Cameron decided to transfer his visions to paper, thus creating the first sketches. The legendary creator describes this situation as follows:
I woke up from a dream of just this kind of bioluminescent forest with trees that looked like fiber optic lights, a bioluminescent river, and purple moss that glowed when you walked over it. There were also lizards in this dream whose shape was hard to discern until they moved. These lizards were like fans, they were like living Frisbees – they flew up and landed. It was all in my dream. I woke up and immediately drew this. I still have that drawing, which saved us from 10 lawsuits. With any movie, there might be a freak who says you stole his story idea. I even brought this drawing to Fullerton Junior College once and pulled it out and said, “See that? Those glowing trees? That glowing lizard that spins? That purple moss?” And they all left with pretensions.
We also know that the post-production process of the film has ended Avatar: Water Creature – this is evidenced by a photo posted on the web by one of the producers, Jon Landau. It shows Cameron holding a large bottle of champagne in his hands and congratulating the whole crew. Interestingly, the material had the opportunity to see Guillermo del Toro, privately a friend of the director. Commenting on the above-mentioned photograph, the filmmaker stated:
This is a stunning cinematic achievement! Full of majestic views and emotions served on a truly huge scale. The Master (Cameron – author’s note) is at the peak of his abilities.
