Avatar 2 – there was supposed to be a big space battle in the movie. James Cameron removed it

James Cameron admitted that initially in the film Avatar: Water Creature a great space battle may have been included. However, it was decided to remove it. The developers had a very good reason for this. See details below.
In first Avatar viewers visited Pandora. In the continuation, however, they had the opportunity to see beautiful water areas inhabited by a new clan. However, there was no significant sequence in space in both films – which is different in the comics. It’s not a coincidence.
Avatar 2 – there was supposed to be a big space battle in the movie
Jake, Neytiri and Na’Vi in a graphic novel The High Ground they fought a great battle with humans in space. This scene almost made it to the big screen. James Cameron in conversation with Disney Studio Awards revealed that:
Well, the other major change was the removal of the space battle. There was a great space battle; we deleted it… we put it away for later, you know? You have enough canvas for every idea to end up somewhere.
The director later added that the real reason was that this version of the sequel was eventually adapted as the aforementioned comic book. The High Ground. While the 125-page script would have been a great movie in his opinion, it wasn’t what they wanted to do in Avatar 2. It did not fulfill its task – the ocean appeared only on page 110, and it was what the viewers were waiting for the most, something new.
This could have been the first sequel. But we rejected it.
