Are viewers tired of superheroes? Marvel Studios boss on how to keep interest

Recently, it has been possible to observe the voices of some fans who do not hide their fatigue with superhero cinema. Over the last ten years, there has been a sharp increase in the number of productions on this subject that hit the small and big screen, and in 2022 alone, a dozen of them were released. However, in an interview with The Movie Business Podcast, the head of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, spoke, calming down and sharing his insights on how to keep viewers interested.
In the interview, he mentions, among other things, that he has been at Marvel Studios for over twenty years, and a few years after starting his work, he already heard questions about how long this superhero trend will last.
Will this fad of superhero movies end? I really don’t understand this question. Because for me, you could ask the same question at the time of the premiere of Gone with the Wind and ask how many more adaptations based on the novel can be made? Will the audience ever get tired of book adaptations?
Last November, we published the results of research conducted by the Fandom portal, which showed that more than a third of Marvel fans feel tired of exploiting the brand in cinemas and the Disney+ streaming service. Kevin Feige, however, reassures and adds that so many fantastic and groundbreaking comic book stories have been created for 80 years that it is a great privilege to be able to present them in screen adaptations. However, does the head of Marvel Studios have a secret formula to keep viewers’ attention for a long time?
Marvel – heroes from the future who deserve more time in the MCU
The truth is, there is no such solution, says Feige. However, he adds that they managed to discover in the MCU that playing with genres allows you to surprise viewers and deliver different productions. Therefore, they can tell any kind of film, which, however, will combine motifs from many different genres. Does it work at the moment? Judge for yourself.
