Ant-Man 3 – the developers considered an “unhappy” ending. They changed their minds because of the MCU’s biggest hit?

Marvel Studios considered a different ending to the film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantomania. They wanted to avoid comparisons to another MCU show, as well as repeating what was done in the previous part.

As a reminder, the ending that viewers were able to see in theaters shows Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne defeating Kang and returning safely to Earth. However, the developers considered trapping the heroes in the Quantum Realm or escape in style Avengers: Endgame – changed their mind at the last minute.

Jeff Loveness, screenwriter Ant-Man 3in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he explained why such a decision.

Everything we discussed seemed exciting on paper. Ultimately, however, it would be a copy of what we did in the finale of the last one Ant-Man. There weren’t too many roads leading in the opposite direction either endgame. If Scott was trapped in the Quantum Realm, the only way to escape would be what he did in The Avengers.

The writer confirmed in an interview with Variety that an ending where Scott and Hope were stuck in the Quantum Realm was in the works, but eventually dropped the idea. Loveness even stated that he thinks the new finale is more surprising because Scott is someone who constantly has to go through pain, loss and sadness, so seeing him finally win can be a surprise.

In turn, in an interview with Gizmondo, he not only confirmed once again that the hero could use z tactics in the final Avengers: Endgamebut also added that the new “happy” ending is interesting because while Scott seems carefree, he has an anxiety that something might have gone wrong.

I think it’s really fascinating that the guy who literally saved the world in the last phase could be the same guy who’s now accidentally f***ing everything. We’ll see in the future.
