Alec Baldwin has been charged – it’s about his death on the set of Rust. According to the actor’s lawyer, this is a mistake

Alec Baldwin was charged with two counts of manslaughter on the set of Rust. The actor’s lawyer commented on the case: he believes the court’s decision was a mistake, and his client relied on professionals who assured him that there were no bullets in the gun.
For involuntary manslaughter, the actor faces an 18-month prison sentence and a fine of $5,000. According to the District Attorney’s office, Alec Baldwin, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed (proper clerk) and David Halls will face two charges, which in practice means that the jury will not just decide if they are guilty, but under which definition.
Alec Baldwin – the actor’s lawyer about the allegations
This decision distorts the tragic death of Halyna Hutchins and is a major miscarriage of the justice system. Mr. Baldwin had no reason to believe that there were real bullets in the pistol – or anywhere on the set. He relied on the professionals he worked with, and they assured him that there were no real bullets in the gun. We will fight these accusations and we will win.
Alec Baldwin – what do prosecutors think about the case?
Andrea Reeb, the prosecutor assigned by the district attorney to investigate the case, commented:
If any of those three people – Alec Baldwin, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed or David Halls – had done their job, Halyna Hutchins would still be with us today. It’s that simple. The evidence clearly points to a neglect of security on the Rust set. There’s no place in New Mexico for a movie set that doesn’t take public safety and how guns should be handled seriously.
New Mexico District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said Alec Baldwin did nothing to make sure those around him were safe. She added that the actor would not get a free pass just because of his profession.
