A Man Called Otto – Online Film Reviews. What do critics think about the production?

A man named Otto is a new movie starring Tom Hanks. The plot of the production was based on the popular novel by Fredrik Backman, published in Poland under the title A man named Ove. The film currently has 179 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, of which 125 are positive and 54 negative. This gives a score of 70 percent positive feedback, with an average rating of 6.1/10.
First of all, in positive (and even negative) reviews, Hanks’ performance in the title role receives huge praise. The actor is simply supposed to sink into his character, until sometimes he becomes unrecognizable, not in terms of appearance, but the very psychological trait and the way he behaves. However, critics also praise Mariana Trevino in the background as Otto’s neighbor Marisol. The actress brings a lot of charm to this creation and is a kind of guide to the main character’s world.

Critics emphasize that this is a very emotional film that can move the viewer. One of the journalists even points out that A man named Otto is a production that forces you to think without directly telling the viewer to do it. Critics also consider it a humorous and uplifting picture that beautifully shows what good can happen when people love each other.
In less favorable reviews, the bad words are mainly the pace of the story, which, from being slow in the first two acts, suddenly accelerates strongly in the third to end all plot threads. We can also read that the film does not really develop its fresh idea, at some point becoming a cliché of similar stories.
